EML arm guards embark from Galle OPL and stay on board till the final destination. While on board , The EML security team would use reasonable means to protect and defend the vessel against following threats / in line with regulations.

• Any actual or threatened attack or hostility
• Malicious damage including terrorism and / or piracy against the vessel
• Remain at all times within the parameters set out in the Rules of Engagement.

Other Functions

• Activities through EML head office in Colombo on matters of concern and recent pirate activity through our Head Office in Colombo.
• Team leader to conduct on board security briefing and drills.
• Remain agile and keep watch for enemy activity both day & night.
• Keep ship's security communication system active throughout its voyage
• Provide security reaction plan / bridge cards.
• Secure stair-ways of ship with iron doors, barrels & razor wire.
• Place human dummies & dummy weapons to dupe the enemy.
• Display warning banners etc. etc.
• Citadel arrangements - According to BMP4 standards
• Electrical Fencing.

While on-board , in addition to the above , the following safety measures would also be taken by our EML security team on regular basis

Added Features

On-Board security measures also involve mix-up of EML security teams and crew members of the ship. Though our security unit is a distinctly separate entity, compared tofunctions & responsibilities of the crew , this mix-up is considered as an operational strategy. However, the EML security unit works in complete harmony and with fullest cooperation with the Captain of the ship who also function as the co-ordinator and ultimate authority of the ship. Thereby, the Team Leader of EML security unit is subordinate to the Captain
